YuMmy - Pound Cake

I love cake! Especially pound cake! It's not the healthiest choice of dessert, but it is very delicious. The cake is not difficult to make and can be a very tasty late night or early morning snack.



Abbreviations

C         =          cups
Lg        =          large
T         =          Tablespoon
tsp       =          teaspoon
lb        =          pound


#1 - Cream together             
1 lb     (4) sticks Butter (half and half)
3 C      Sugar or (1 lb box powdered sugar)
6 Lg     eggs


#2 - Shift/blend                     
3 C      Flour (cake flour or sifted, all-purpose)
¼ tsp    Salt (do not add salt if using salted butter)
¼ tsp    Baking Powder


#3 - Add                                
1 tsp    Vanilla extract, plus
½ tsp    Almond or Lemon flavor or rum

Cream #1 until smooth and light creamy yellow in color.  Add #2 ingredients, little by little.  Finally, add #3 ingredients.  Pour in buttered, floured bunt cake pan.  Bake on 350° for approximately 1-hour.  Check with toothpick after 45-minutes.  If not ready, check every 15-minutes until ready.  Should not bake longer than 1-hour.


Substitute/Add

8-oz sour cream
¼ tsp baking soda
3 C sugar  or    (omit 1-lb box of powdered sugar)
